Please note laser pigmentation removal service is currently unavailable during the warmer months and we will recommence in Autumn 2025
Oh, the memories! Remember those carefree days when a tan equaled pure bliss and sun worship was our top priority? Ah, the Kiwi life outdoors! But, alas, all that fun in the sun came with a price. Yep, we're talking about pigmentation, those pesky brown spots, uneven patches, freckles gone wild, and that oh-so-crepey neck. It's all caused by those sneaky melanocytes (pigment-containing cells) lurking beneath our skin, thanks to sun damage and even hormonal shenanigans. Can't catch a break, can we?
But fear not, because our laser pigmentation removal treatment is here to save the day. It works its magic, safely and effectively reducing the appearance of freckles, sun spots, hyperpigmentation, and age spots. Think of it like your go-to Instagram filter, giving you a more even skin tone and taking years off your appearance. Did you know pigmentation can age you more than wrinkles! Those so-called "age spots" are the culprits, courtesy of those UV rays from the sun. They're responsible for a whopping 90% of visible skin aging.
How does it work?
Laser light is attracted to pigment (melanin). The light is absorbed by the pigmentation and is converted to heat which then shatters the pigment, while the surrounding tissue remains unaffected. The pigment is then drawn to the surface of the skin without harming surrounding tissue. Once at the surface, the pigment may create a micro-crust, which can be dry and falls off the area for up to 14 days then revealing the more even toned skin underneath.
Does This Treatment Work For All?
Our laser pigmentation removal treatment is safe for all with a Fitzpatrick skin type from type 1 to 3. Those with Fitzpatrick skin types from 4 to 6 (darker skin), we have a range of other treatments such as dermal needling that is more suitable and can achieve great results!
To learn more, book a free consultation with us and we'll be able to discuss with you the best treatment plan that is safe and will give you best results for your concerns.

Why OFF & ON?
PRETEND IT NEVER HAPPENED.
Whether you're a one-session wonder or need a couple more to achieve the best results, we've got your back. And here's a fun fact: pigmentation actually ages you more visibly than wrinkles do! That's why our treatment which results in creating a more even skin tone, can make you look years younger in a safe and effective way. The beauty of this treatment is that you can have an annual maintenance top up to stay on top of any pigmentation creeping in and complement this with great skin and sun care.
THE BEST TECHNOLOGY ENSURING SAFETY.
Our secret weapon is the Candela GentleMax Pro Class 4 Medical Grade Alexandrite 755nm Laser. This baby is the crème de la crème, FDA and TGA approved, ensuring safety and effectiveness. Plus, it's quick, non-invasive, with minimal downtime, and as comfy as can be. When the laser light locks on to your pigment, it gets absorbed, converts into heat and destroys the melanin. But don't worry, the surrounding tissue remains untouched and unharmed. The pigment then rises to the surface, and as if by magic, the crust falls off, revealing a beautifully even skin tone.
THE TOP TEAM AND EXPERTISE.
Not only do our lasers effectively zap what was missed with the slip, slop and slap, but our technicians are basically in a relationship with these laser machines. They know them literally inside and out, are experienced, trained (sounds logical but many are not) and backed up with our laser guru leader and local Candela clinical support.
SAVE YOUR TIME AND YOUR MONEY.
It is easy to go down the rabbit hole when all you wanted to do was get rid of your pigment. Next minute you have a complicated regime of prep, post, skin gyms, and 13 steps in the bathroom. We like to keep it simple. Between our laser technology, medical grade specific pigmentation products and superior sun care you are set. Stuff you need, nothing you don’t.
YOU'RE IN THE SPOTLIGHT.
Get ready for some laser talk! During your consult, you'll have a chance to chat with your laser technician about all the important stuff. Want to know how many sessions you'll need? Got any burning questions or curious about post-treatment care? We believe in total transparency, so you can make a smart and informed decision. It's all about giving you the info you need to feel confident and ready to take on those pigmentation woes.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
Put simply, it is a build-up of melanocytes (cells containing melanin, a.k.a. pigment) under the skin. These dark marks range from freckles, sunspots, age spots to melasma and can occur on the face or body at any age.
-
The most common cause is the sun, which is why in NZ it is so prevalent and why pigmentation generally increases with age – curse that ozone! Really simply, sunlight and UV rays cause the body to produce too much melanin. Other environmental factors, hormonal changes and some medications also contribute to pigmentation changes. Hyperpigmentation is the most common (dark marks), however there is also the occurrence of hypopigmentation (light marks).

Laser light is attracted to pigment (melanin). The light is absorbed by the targeted pigmentation and is converted to heat which then shatters the pigment, while the surrounding tissue remains unaffected. The great news is laser is absorbed by only the cells containing excessive concentrations of pigment. The pigment is then drawn to the surface of the skin without harming surrounding tissue. Once at the surface, the pigment will fade or dry and flake off the area, revealing the more even toned skin underneath.

We use the Candela Gentle Max Pro Class 4 Medical Grade Alexandrite 755nm laser to effectively remove pigmentation in as little as 1 – 3 treatments. The Gentle Max Pro is the most advanced, FDA & TGA approved laser in the world for providing safe and effective treatments. And the best bit - it is lightening quick, non-invasive and with minimal downtime and as comfortable as it can get.

This can vary from client to client and also depend on the type of pigment we treat. Whilst the results of the treatment are exceptional, it is important to remember that pigmentation is caused by environmental exposure, hormones and some medications. As such there are chances without the right management it can reappear. Understandably as sun exposure is a major cause of pigmentation you will need to protect the area being treated with a minimum SPF 30+. This will help you get and keep the best results from your treatments.
-
No. Melasma is a different kettle of fish so to speak, with complexity in its cause, type and variables that impact the best type of treatment. For that reason we stick to what we know we can safely and effectively treat and that is pigmentation.
-
We treat skin types from a Fitzpatrick 1- 3. This is because the contrast between the pigmentation and the surrounding tissue is higher. This means pigmentation can be safely targeted and treated without damaging the surrounding area.
-
We recommend between 1-3 sessions to get the best results. During the consultation we will assess the area and the type of pigmentation you would like treated. We can then give you a better understanding of how many treatments may be needed.

As with laser hair removal and waxing, some areas are more sensitive than others. With pigmentation removal, the pulses will feel like a lightening quick hot sensation (some say similar to that of an elastic band flicking on the skin) that we immediately cool down with cool packs once each smaller area is complete. It is a quick sensation, for most people it is not too uncomfortable and the best news is that it is over quickly as well! We have some secret techniques to keep it as cool and comfortable as possible for you 😉.

Prior to the treatment, no sun exposure for as long as possible before the treatment is ideal, but at least a minimum of 2 weeks. A minimum of SPF 30+ sunscreen should be worn on the areas at all time. After treatment you can expect heat in your skin – this is easily treated with a cool pack and aloe vera which we apply for you after the treatment. Staying out of the sun and heat is a critical component to success. SPF 30+ should be worn at all times and we recommend treating during autumn/winter months.
