Top 3 mistakes made when waxing at home
They say leave it up to the professionals! Waxing is one of the treatments where professional and experienced waxers can save you a lot of issues. There are so many elements where waxing can just go so wrong. Here are the top 3 mistakes people make when trying to wax at home.
1. Trimming too short
When there’s nothing for the wax to grip on, it makes it difficult to pull the hairs out. It’s even more difficult when it’s being done by an amateur. OFF & ON recommends hair to be at the very least 2 mm but it will be good to have a good two weeks’ worth of growth from a previous shave.
2. Waxing in the wrong direction
The right and true way to wax is by pulling the strip in the opposite direction of the hair growth. It should be done in one quick and swift motion and pulling along the gradient of the skin. It also helps when the skin is held back to be tight.
3. Applying too much wax
Resist the temptation to apply too much wax if you’re doing it yourself at home. Less is definitely more in the world of self-waxing. For strip wax you only need a thin layer for best results.
